YETI SB140

Custom build for Natalya - Yeti SB140

Custom build for Natalya. This is an upgrade from the Yeti SB130 she has been riding the last 3 years. She also has a Yeti Arc. Last year we upgraded the SB130 to a lunch ride, increasing travel in the front by 10mm and the rear by 6mm to further improve descending capacities.

Introduced at the end of last year, the Yeti SB140 frame seemed like the right choice for Natalya’s riding progression and trails she accesses - from the rocky, slabby, dusty terrain at La Larr Ba Gauwa MTB Park, local trails amongst Pine trees, to jaunts over to Tassie, weekenders at Mystic MTB park in Bright and an annual Cascades ride. She is hoping to add Thredbo to her ride destination list for 2025. The Yeti Arc is her go to for shorter faster rides at Walmer Forest, Goldfields Track, Spring Gully in Bendigo and bike packing trips.

A custom build means that the rider can tailor which components will suit their riding style, their aesthetic taste and their budget.

The SB140 has a UDH derailleur hanger which allowed us to use the new SRAM transmission drivetrain system. The Transmission derailleur eliminates the need for a derailleur hanger as it mounts directly to the frame. This is a much stronger and more precise drivetrain than any others on the market - there are no weak spots, bending points or cables to maintain. Given that this will be Natalya’s main bike for both work (mountain bike instructing and guiding) and personal use - it needs to be reliable and durable (being light is also good too!)

We built the wheels with 30mm internal width rims, 28 spokes and a 2 cross, 3 cross pattern on the front to: reduce weight, maintain strength and improve tyre performance. She is testing out the Specialized mimic saddle which was inherited from a family’s member recent bike purchase (thanks Mum). Natalya has been “learning” how to ride with flat pedals after 17 years of riding clipped in. The FUNN Python Pedals offer a streamlined (thin) yet big platform for riding - assisting with good support and ground clearance.

  • 2024 Yeti SB140 Torq series frame - sangria
