RAD SKILLS

What:

MTB skills instruction and guided riding in a progressive format. Think of it as learning to become a ninja - but on a bike. As your skills progress, unlock the next level of progression.

Focus is on confidence, fun and social connection on a bike in a low pressure environment.

Content may include:

  • Body Position - using stability and balance for more confidence, flow and safety on descents, ascents and corners

  • Operating controls - using brakes to slow down and stop with control; using gears for smoother pedaling and energy efficiency

*Specific skills taught will depend on participant’s riding experience and group goals

Included in session:

  • Bicycle & gear check

  • Skills Instruction by GSMBC and PMPIA certified MTB Coaches with Wilderness First Aid certification, and Working with Children Check

Pre-requites:

  • Suitable for bikes 20” and above with off-road tyres and hand operated brakes (pedal brakes are not suitable)

  • Suitable for those who can ride a bike - this is not a learn to ride session

  • Complementary pre-ride bike check at Rad Cycles & Gear or evidence of recent service

  • Equipment as listed below

Groups:

  • Small group sizes (6 riders per coach)

  • We offer 2 different groups to cater for rider’s experiences and goals - age is not the main determining factor of what group. Once registration is received you will be allocated which time slot your child/young person might be suitable for. This is subject to change after the coach assesses their riding in the first few weeks of class.

Minimum of 5 riders to go ahead

Sessions subject to cancellation due to weather or unforeseen circumstances - there will be make up sessions at the end of the program finish date.

See Terms & Conditions in registration for details.
